A vision of a new life often drives people to pack up and travel to new places. Some people come to New Zealand as skilled migrants, others come to work, study or invest here.

Many people already settled in New Zealand wish their close family to join them, and family members, often alone, wish to come to New Zealand to be close to relatives.

Bringing the family together

You may apply to come to New Zealand to live if you are sponsored by a family member who is already a New Zealand citizen or resident. You must be in one of the groups shown below:

Family Quota

If you wish to sponsor someone who is not eligible for residence in New Zealand under any other category, we offer a number of opportunities each year for families to be reunited.

Samoan Quota

We have a special relationship with our Samoan neighbours.  As part of this special relationship, each year we invite a number of Samoan citizens to apply for residence under our Samoan Quota Scheme.

2005 Samoan Quota registration

The official registration period for the 2005 Samoan Quota Scheme is from 4 July to 12 August 2005.  Completed registration forms (Samoan Quota Scheme Registration Form (pdf)) must be received by the Immigration Service by 12 August 2005.  Registrations received after that date will not be accepted.

Pacific Access Category

If you are from the Pacific Islands (Fiji, Tuvalu, Tonga or Kiribati) we offer a number of opportunities each year for people to move here to live.

Other opportunities

You may like to consider other ways you can apply to come to New Zealand for a short time to visit or study or to come here to live or work.
